Running start, momentum on two feet, landing on the ground, then repositioning in defence: in a single exchange, men's volleyball socks handle movements in every direction. When well chosen, they keep the foot in the shoe and reduce friction throughout the match.
This page brings together low-cut, mid-cut and non-slip pairs, with many training packs.
Socks are sold in size ranges. Volleyball players, often tall, usually have larger feet: make sure your size fits within the range, and not at its upper limit. A sock that's too small pulls at the toes and wears out quickly at the heel, while one that's too big bunches up.
The libero and the receiver-attackers, who often slide on the floor, prefer a tall sock that protects the shin and works well with knee pads. The middle blocker and the outside hitter, who jump a lot, sometimes prefer a lower and lighter pair. The setter chooses based on their comfort, as they touch all the balls without diving as much.
Non-slip models have grips or adhesive zones underfoot. The foot stays anchored in the shoe during take-off and landing. They can be worn with any indoor shoe and are great for powerful players.
Errea offers its two-tone Zone socks, easy to match with the club kit. Hummel provides its low Blaze Pro training socks and lots of three pairs. Mizuno has its Volley pair, high socks, and Training lots. Joma and Puma round out the selection with their team socks.
For the complete outfit, choose a short from the men's shorts page and a jersey from the men's jerseys page. Under the shorts, a pair of tights from the men's baselayers protects from sliding. All men's clothing is available on the men's clothing page.
Bundles of socks are perfect for club orders, especially during the men's sales or on men's clearance. The special textile offers are available all year round.
One pair per weekly training, plus one pair kept for matches. Packs of three or six pairs quickly cover this need. Replace loose or holey pairs, as they tend to slip.
Football socks go up very high and are designed to hold a shin guard. They can work in a pinch, but they are often thick. A sports sock designed for indoor use, which is thinner, allows you to feel the floor better.
They are not essential. Some players wear them for recovery or calf support. For the match, a well-fitted classic sock is usually enough.
Choose a sock without folds, that fits your size, and make sure your shoe is well-fitted. Change your pairs every session to keep your feet dry. A non-slip model also reduces friction.
Your club usually specifies the colour for the whole team, often matching the shorts. White and black remain the most common. Check with your coach before ordering.
